A tribute to Bijlee

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away Aelephants ate grass and shoots. They lived in the wild and peacefully coexisted.

Today, thanks to civilization, they are in the city, in the company of people, begging and being fed vada pav and ghee-laced parathas.

Bijlee the elephant did not deserve this life
The result? They end up 1500 kg overweight. They have diseases of the rich such as arthritis and they are miserable.

Eventually they die. We mourn for a few hours about how they were poorly treated. And then life moves on.

The circle continues. We have another elephant. Or maybe this time it may be a tiger. Or even a lion. The wilder the animal, the bigger the story.

We can only hope there isn't another Bijlee the elephant-like story where we do not do anything until the animal is about to die.

For all it's worth, if there is a heaven, Bijlee, I am sure, will be a happier animal there.
